We have turned the tables, and now the Vice Dean for Research will hold a trial lecture over a topic the PhD-candidates have chosen, in the ultimate form of academic reprisal. A lecture uncoupled from their research, where we get to see how good of an orator they are. PhD-candidates have to face a unique examination no other student group has to, namely the trial lecture.
